Living in Taiwan has to be one of the most riveting experiences I’ve had in my life. Before being assigned to work on this beautiful island I had never travelled to Asia, had no friends here, and had never studied Chinese. Within just a few weeks here, I began to feel that Taiwan was like a second home. In the past year and a half I have forged lasting friendships (even some using Chinese!) and have tried a variety of new activities. For example, back home I never had the experience of hiking in the middle of a city—in Taipei, I have hiked Xiangshan three times—the last time, I even mustered the courage to climb the big rock and take a photo. I love living here and can’t wait to discover what new experiences lie just around the corner… - Kristin
